Workshops and Meeting of the Natureef Association

On February 20-21, 2025, representatives of the Research and Development Department of KB Folie Polska took part in the Workshop and General Meeting of the Members of the Natureef Association in Szczecin.

The aim of the workshops was to support professionals in effective packaging design and management, taking into account current legal regulations, such as PPWR and Directive 2019/904, known as SUP. The organized workshops “Design & Comply – Packaging design in the perspective of legal changes” gave participants the opportunity to develop solutions supporting the optimization of the design process of plastic and paper packaging, with particular emphasis on recyclability requirements. The principles and methods of designing in accordance with the Design for Recycling principles were discussed, taking into account barriers in assessing compliance with PPWR requirements and the principles of formulating environmental statements. Thank you!

During the meeting, we also presented the benefits of implementing the European ScreenFood project. The project concerns an important and current issue related to the need to ensure food safety throughout the distribution chain, an important part of which are processes involving product packaging. Its aim is to develop improved and unified methods for detecting and quantifying organic and inorganic contaminants (including MOSH / MOAH, PFAS, heavy metals) that can migrate to packaged food from various packaging materials. The results of the conducted research, as well as the developed methods for assessing packaging, will support the industry in ensuring the safety of products packaged in sustainable materials. The research will cover native polymer materials (e.g. PET, PLA), as well as recyclates, and papers.
